>Record Chills make SEA AND PRT want July again! Seattle 16 degrees and Portland 14 degrees, even the normally toasty Death Valley falls below freezing

>The memories of Portland’s 106 and Seattle’s new all-time record of 103 degrees must have been a distant memory for both this morning when Seattle fell to 16 degrees and Portland a record 14 degrees.

Even the site more typical of 120-degree days was down to a crisp 27 degrees at Furnace creek according to the Las Vegas NWS office this morning.

Gone are those warm days for now at least with Los Angeles bottoming out at around 40 whilst areas north and east of the urban sprawl and over the San Gabriel and San Bernardino Ranges fell easily into the teens across the high desert whilst single digits were recorded in the high sheltered areas of the Sierra foothills. Stark contrast to California’s cold spot of Bridgeport which fell to a frigid 20 below zero yesterday morning. Amazing to think that 80s and even 90s could be just as much in control at this time of year as this cold!

I bet you at some point between now and March we will see 80s to even 90s warm Southern California with a Santa Ana! I remember back to January 2002 when Anahiem recorded an astonishing 100-degrees, yes, in January!

In case you don’t know. California’s coldest ever recorded temperature is 45 below zero at Boca… Warmest of course being 134 degrees at Death Valley.

Thanks for reading.
