Next Atlantic pain-in-the-neck ready to come onshore tonight and spread more misery across the British Isles through tonight and all day tomorrow

Well, I hate to say this but another soaking is imminent for much of the United Kingdom through the next 24 hours or so as a large canopy of rain is knocking on our door step as it pushes northeastwards tonight, making it’s presense known across Cornwall, Wales and will spread across much Ireland, England and Scotland and by morning we shall all be under the gun of wind and rain once again.

Strong winds will also impact the worst hit areas of recent days across Cumbria and southwest Scotland with potential for gusts to 60 mph.

I do think unfortunately we will see more road closures as 4 inches of rain could potentially hit the worst hit areas and the ground is full of water, there is nowhere for this new rainfall to go now…

For a break in this bullying pattern we must await the flip in the Arctic Oscillation

This pattern which was well forecasted in advance by myself will NOT let up until we see the flip to a warming stratosphere over the North Pole and the blocking can take shape over the hemisphere…

The good news is despite the relentless rain and wind here, the wheels are already turning and at the expense of Asia and Alaska enduring the frozen fingers of old man winter…. Alaska’s due to warm and we’re due to see their cold become displaced. The US Eastern half may be under winter’s gun over the next 4 to 5 days. A gradual cooldown and weakening of the Atlantic storm train is appraoching as a re-cast of the upper-levels transitions the mid-latitudes on a downward spirla towards winter FINALLY! Soon you’ll be tired of cold, frost and perhaps snow covered ground and the sound of squeeking under your feet in the run up to Christmas friends.

The AO must flip for us to see the break from this tiring, relentless pattern which in my opinion has been at the forefront of Great Britain’s overall weather picture since July! The thing that stands out though is how much cold we have seen so early in Asia, how cold Alaska has gotten but more striking is the October freeze in the USA… The ability for cold of that magnitude to dive that far south so early, makes one wonder the potential for later down the road when all the winter-time ingredients are there , just how severe the cold may become when snows covering a widespread area, daylight and incoming solar energy is minimal etc etc.

I have concerns over cold that’s coming that may bring a sharp transition. Severe cold may be looming for mid-December here. A white Christmas for much of the country is still on the cards in my opinion.

More later.

Thanks for reading.
