The deep Atlantic low responsible for bringing flooding rain, 85 mph winds to the UK and record warmth to parts of eastern Spain has also produced a record warm January day in Denmark.
On Wednesday afternoon, the thermometer surpassed the previous Danish January record of 12.4C set in 2005 with a new peak of 12.9C recorded in Sønderborg.
