One Snow System Exits Leaving Behind Frigid, Windy Conditions While Another Slides Beneath

First the heavy snow and now WINDY Arctic high pressure for the Northern Rockies and Plains while the next big Pacific system drives underneath into Oregon, California, Nevada, Wyoming and Utah!!

It’s a struggle to get above 0 in many locales from Montana to Minnesota and with still strong winds, wind chills remain dangerous!

The latest batch of snow to cross the Dakotas came after a December 2016 which was the 11th snowiest month all-time in Bismarck, ND.

Air temps in the -10s, -20s at sunrise this morning combined with strong, gusty winds made for a tough Wednesday AM commute across the Northern Tier this morning.

The gusty winds didn’t just make for cold wind chills but also poor driving.

Strong winds stopped the temperature falling too far.

Montana lows this morning.

North Dakota lows this morning.

Near 50 below wind chill at Rugby, ND this morning!

The next big Pacific system will be a big snow maker as well as wind maker!
