As forecast, central and eastern Turkey has been hammered by a major snowstorm and now it’s all about the bitter cold following in it’s wake as surface pressure builds to 1030mb.

High pressure has now settled over the deep snow cover and Western Russia down through Ukraine to Turkey sits beneath the western flank of a bitterly cold Siberian air mass.

As for the UK and Ireland, high pressure builds for the weekend bringing the return to cooler, frosty nights before the weather takes a stormy turn during next week.
