97L BRINGS RARE THREAT TO VENEZUELA, ARUBA, PATTERN & HOT GULF/ATLANTIC LEAVES US VULNERABLE…

This is a very interesting pattern we’re in with a boiling Gulf and Atlantic, active tropics and increasingly favourable US pattern that could attract storms and or hurricanes to the coast.

In the past week, waters in the Gulf and up the Atlantic seaboard have warmed and widely running 2-4F above normal. The pattern and warm water makes the coast act like a magnet in the next couple of weeks.

The CFSv2 6-10 day is particularly favourable for systems threatening the US with a build up of heights over eastern Canada while heights are naturally lower, promoting rising air and convergence.

Excellent expert analysis as always from Levi Cowan on the future of 97L.

As for the Lower 48, we’re talking triple digits for coastal Southern California this afternoon.

Thanks to strong and gusty NE Santa Ana winds, it reached at least 101 in Downtown LA, 105 Santa Ana.

Welcome Rains For East Coast

The warm Gulf and Atlantic is not just likely to keep the East warm but wet during October which should help the drought areas.
