The GFS remains weaker and further north than the ECMWF with the upper feature. Two waves of energy push through Friday into Saturday. It’s the 2nd feature which could bring a rain-snow mix into Boston, NYC, Philly, Baltimore and DC.

This deep trough with arctic origin air leaves as fast as it arrives but this I don’t buy for later down the road off the CFSv2! Nonsense just like it’s longer range…

November could be a wild month.

AO is suppose to be going positive which would help build source region cold but there’s hints of warming now within the stratosphere which begs the question.. do we have a major arctic blast coming in the next few weeks?

Have you seen the vast INCREASE in Siberian snow cover this month? It’s at record levels.

Siberian snow cover plays a key role to Europe and North America as it delivers THEE coldest air if you get the right setup and that right set up looks likely this upcoming winter. It’s believed that bigger Siberian snow pack in Oct leads to more of a -AO winter and greater chance of seeing sudden stratospheric warming events which delivers Siberian air into the Lower 48 via cross polar flows.
