    Hi Kathleen,

Thanks for your question. Great question it is. In my opinion your generally a little too far south for the winter storm track and you typically remain on the warm side of storms. Cold is easier to come by than snowstorms. Hope that helps.

This is not meant to be a simple “when is it going to snow in my backyard” question, however… I’m new to Nashville TN and although I’ve lived in some of the often snowiest places in the US (Aspen, Lake Tahoe) I remain utterly mystified by the “snow” patterns here. Although the average is between 8.5-10″/year for Nashville I would expect the ground to turn white with snow at least several times a winter with at least an inch or two. We got one (unforecast) event leaving most surfaces covered (~.75″) & turning our hilly neighborhood slippery & wintry for a week. Since we’re located at the bottom of the Ohio valley I would have expected to out do our average during this year especially. I understand many of the air masses have been very dry over our area & we certainly have received some of the worst of the cold air here in the South, but still… Even the most out there upcoming ECMVW models have left us high & dry with at most up to 1″. What gives do you think?
