There appears to be an increasing possibility of some snow making it to the UK Tuesday-Wednesday of next week. The same low which will bring gales and heavy rain to many later Sunday into Monday will drop south towards mid week and that means winds turns ENE and that means our air will blow in from a very cold Denmark and Norway.

One must watch the combination of increasingly cold air and moisture associated with that southbound low as rain could turn increasingly to snow. Exact amounts and where might get the snow, very much remains unknown at this time.
While I showed you the GFS solution on today’s video. I thought I would show you the ECMWF idea which is very alike but the ECMWF may support a slightly colder solution. Be sure to watch the video for the details.

Here comes the next deep low from the Atlantic. Unfortunately without the -NAO, the Atlantic flow will rule.

A lot of this winter over the United States has been similar to 1994 in more ways than one and what’s interesting is that while winter was mild during December and January in the UK, there was a turn to cold in February as mentioned by Joe Bastardi of WeatherBell. Let’s keep our fingers crossed. Firstly for next week.
Finally, here’s the ECMWF snow cover through the next 7 days. Again, similar to the GFS.
