After today’s strong winds over Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK, high pressure builds in from the Atlantic and will settle things down. It will initially turn colder once again tomorrow into the weekend as cold air remain in the mid and upper levels but into next week, the high continues building, drawing milder air in.

Prepare for severe frosts in the coming nights with cold days but as I say, into next week the core of high pressure builds in drawing warmer air in too as the NAO/AO returns to positive.
Unfortunately it turns increasingly stormy once again over the central Med while Scandinavia and eastern Europe turns colder.
Be sure to watch today video and read last night’s post for more on the longer term pattern.

Here’s the ECMWF at 500mb with 850mb temps which show the colder air tomorrow and into the weekend but as ridging continues to build in from the WSW, so the mid and upper levels warm and so days should turn milder.
