FRI 1 NOV: UK & IRELAND BONFIRE WEEKEND FORECAST

Written by on November 1, 2013 in United Kingdom & Ireland with 0 Comments

Scotland

It’s been a chilly autumnal day across the country but bright too with highs of around 9-11C. Tonight should see skies clear and with lighter winds, it turns chilly with a chance of frost away from town and city centres. Lows tonight -2C in the Glens, 1-3C in rural areas and 3 or 4C in the towns.

Saturday starts chilly with morning sunshine but it turns increasingly cloudy, windy and eventually wet with the arrival of the next low from the Atlantic. It will be windy initially WSW, S then ESE as the low crosses. The North turns very windy from the ESE later in the day. The initial rain band will push through followed by heavy, blustery showers but over the Highlands, expect heavy, windblown snow with potential blizzard-like conditions in places. Highs will likely be the coolest yet at between 5-9C, colder in the wind.

Tomorrow night and if your out and about for fireworks displays, expect a cool, blustery night with a chance of showers. Expect temperatures of between 4-6C between 7-10pm.

Sunday is looking much better with less wind and rain albeit cold with highs of just 6-9C.

Much the same on Monday.

England

It’s a damp, breezy night for a large part of England this evening with a stubborn band of steady rain draped across the Midlands while a push of steady rain spreads north into the South of the country this evening. All but Northern areas escape the wet weather with clearer skies. Beneath those clear skies expect a frost in rural areas of Cumbria and Northumberland.

By Saturday at dawn much of the rain from late evening and overnight should have eased and pushed out into the North Sea but more windy and rain pushes in from the Irish Sea through the day thanks to another low. The North and West turns wet and windy while it stays drier, brighter and remains less windy in the East and Southeast. Highs are cool at between 8-15C.

If your heading out to the various fireworks displays dotted across the country, expect windy, showery and chilly conditions so you’ll probably want a decent warm and waterproof jacket with you. Temperatures 6-10C between 7-10pm.

Sunday is a much better day with less wind and showers but it feels cold at just 7-11C but be aware of a system crossing the far South which could bring heavy rain right along the South Coast.

Decent start to Monday but more wind and rain eventually pushes in.

Wales

It’s wet, windy and chilly tonight throughout Wales with overnight temperatures dropping away as the rain breaks up, becoming more scattered and showery. Lows by tomorrow morning 5-9C.

Saturday will very much be a wet, windy and cool feeling day with gales developing along the Southwest and South Coast as the next Atlantic low pushes in. Highs will be near the seasonal average of 10-13C but factor in a strong SW wind along with hefty showers and it will feel a lot cooler.

Heavy, blustery showers unfortunately dominate the many fireworks displays across the country. Temperatures of 7-11C can be expected between 7-10pm tomorrow evening.

It’s an improving story for a time Sunday with showers and winds easing a touch but later Sunday into Monday, another system sweeps in bringing yet another band of wind and rain.

Northern Ireland

Today is likely to have been the best day of the next few. Late day sunshine now makes way for a cold, clear night with lows likely to dip towards 0C in many rural spots, closer to 3 or 4C in the towns and cities.

By dawn Saturday, rain from the next Atlantic low is already pushing into the West and this rain band quickly sweeps across Ulster, likely bringing a decent soaking before it breaks up into heavy showers through the mid and late afternoon. Winds will be strong and temperature below average at 6-8C, feeling colder in the wind.

If your heading out to the various fireworks displays, expect a windy, showery, cold feeling night. Temperatures 5-8C between 7-10pm, colder feeling in the wind.

More sunshine and showers Sunday but more persistent rain come Monday.

Ireland

It’s a wet and windy night to come across Ireland with the arrival of the next weather system. Lows tonight turn cold on the heels of the main front, lows 4-8C.

Saturday morning sees the main rain band sweep out into the Irish Sea and what follows will be a mix if sunshine and blustery showers. Temperatures will be chilly and feeling colder in the wind. Highs 9-12C.

If your heading out to any fireworks displays, expect a stiff, cold feeling wind with some passing showers. Temperatures of 7-10C between 7-10pm.

Sunday and Monday will see further sunshine and showers with similar temperatures to tomorrow.
