THU 26 SEP: UK & IRELAND REGIONAL FORECAST

Scotland

It’s been a largely fine and dry day across much of Scotland but thicker cloud has lingered from Dumfries up into Glasgow and through tonight, while sunshine gives way to starry skies, light and patchy rain will fall through the night across the Southwest up the western flank of the country, always drier, clearer and cooler further east and north. Lows range from 1 or 2C in the clear north, 4-6C in the East and to nearer 11 or 12C in the cloudier SW.

It’s a dull start to Friday in the south and west, brighter in the east and that’s where we’ll see the best of the brightness again but any overnight shower activity should die down in the south and west. Highs 14-16C.

It stays fairly cloudy but with sunny spells during Saturday and a touch warmer at 17-19C.

England

It’s a fairly gloomy end to Thursday across a large swath of England but the good news is the showers of today across the southwest, west midlands and possibly even the northwest, should ease overnight. Staying quite cloudy for most and so temperatures should hold up to make for a quiet overnight period to come. Staying that bit clearer over the Midlands extending into E Anglia and the Southeast and so here, it could turn chilly with rural spots dipping to 3 or 4C.

After a cloudy start, skies should brighten for most with the exceptions of the far north perhaps but here too, don’t rule out late day bright or sunny spells. In the sun and with light winds it will warm quite nicely, reaching seasonal or slightly above seasonal values of 17-22C, especially across inland parts of the SW.

Decent and quite mild day to come Saturday with similar temperatures to tomorrow, perhaps some rain or showers lapping the south and southwest coasts.

Wales

The showers of today and this evening quickly die away this evening making way for a quiet, dry and mild night to come with mostly cloudy skies and mild temperatures of 9-13C.

Friday dawns with a mix of cloud and bright spells, perhaps a slight chance of an odd shower in the far south but all it all it’s a decent looking day on offer with decent spells of sunshine and temperatures warm nicely to between 17-21C.

Rain spreads into the south Saturday but for most it’s dry, bright and sunny with temperatures rising to perhaps 18-22C.

Northern Ireland

After cloud and showers look to continues, possibly even pep up for a time tonight but it at least stays mild with lows dipping no lower than 10 t0 12C with a slight southerly breeze blowing.

Friday looks like a decent day after any more showers die out. Expect some decent spells of late morning and afternoon sun and highs will rise to a pleasant and seasonal 16 or 17C, locally 19C.

Staying dry and bright Saturday and we may see temperatures near 20 or 21C in a few spots.

Ireland

It seems like a broken record these days but the cloudy but dry theme continues tonight and through tomorrow with any rain really staying out over the Irish Sea and well to the south, perhaps an odd shower lapping the east coast but this won’t amount to much. It stays mild with lows tonight dipping no lower than 10C beneath mostly cloudy skies.

No surprise then that Friday starts cloudy but through the morning into the afternoon, don’t be surprised to see some sunshine poking through and in that sun it will feel very pleasant with highs ranging between 17-23C.

By Saturday a frontal boundary does look to bring some ‘ active weather’ finally with some quite heavy rain spreading into the south while much of the country stays dry but holds onto mostly cloudy skies. Highs 17-21C.
