FRI 20 SEP: UK & IRELAND WEEKEND FORECAST

Written by on September 20, 2013 in United Kingdom & Ireland with 1 Comment

Scotland

It’s a bright afternoon across many central, southern and eastern areas with the thickest cloud and best chance of light, patchy rain in the north. With the help of sunshine, temps will climb to a more comfortable 15-17C. Tonight will be cloudy for most with some rain developing in the NW Highlands and this may drift south but never really making it into the central lowlands. Lows hold up at 8-11C beneath the thicker cloud, nearer 6 or 7C in the Southeast where clear spells may develop.

Saturday looks largely cloudy but dry in central and southern parts but head into the Highlands and it’s wet and breezier. Head further south again and by afternoon some brightness or sunny spells should develop lifting temperatures to 17 or 18C.

Sunday is looking largely dry with cloudiest conditions in the west, sunnier further east and you’ll notice the warmth returning. Widely 17-19 but locally 21 or 22C in the NE corner.

A fine, mainly dry start to next week with temperatures remaining warmer than average. Always a chance of rain in the NW.

England

It’s a fine, largely dry end to the working week across England with cloudiest conditions in the west and southwest, best of late day brightness in the east. It’s a quiet overnight period coming up with little precipitation to speak of and lows won’t be a chilly as recent nights. 8-12C.

Saturday is looking like a decent day with cloud thinning and breaking through the morning across the Midlands and South and here, temperatures will be on the rise and may push 21C in the sunniest spots, particularly from Lincolnshire down to London, widely 15-19C.

Sunday sees the temperature climb further as high pressure builds in from the Azores once again but in the west, low cloud, mist and drizzle is possible with the best of the sunshine in the east. Expect highs widely of 17-20C but we could see 22 or 23C in a few eastern spots.

A fine, mainly dry start to next week with temperatures remaining warmer than average.

Wales

It’s a decent end to the week across Wales and tonight will continue that way although cloud increases through the night as warmer, moister air pushes up from the south setting the stage for a cloudy, drizzly morning but warmer. Overnight lows stay mild at 8-13C.

Saturday will start cloudy but through the morning into the afternoon and cloud thins and breaks in the eats along the English border but it stays cloudy with light drizzle in western parts. Temperatures will be warmer for all with 17C in the cloud but it may reach 20C in the sunshine.

Sunday remains quite cloudy but after a very mild start, it warms up nicely in the sunnier east with highs of 21C, always cloudier with drizzle in the west.

A fine, mainly dry start to next week with temperatures remaining warmer than average.

Northern Ireland

It’s a lovely end to the day across much of Ulster with sunshine and milder temperatures than of late. A quiet and milder night to come with a mix of cloud and mist, some clear pockets here and there and temps no lower than 8C.

Saturday will see cloud and light rain spread up from the south but this is drawing warmer and more humid air up from the south. Like today and despite the cloudier skies, highs will climb to around 17 or 18C.

Sunday remains mixed with cloud, some brightness and some patchy rain here and there but temperatures may push 20, even 21C.

A decent, warm start to next week, highs of 18-21C.

Ireland

It’s a pleasant end to Friday across Ireland with milder air back in place after the recent chill. The largely cloudy skies of today will hold through much of the night and thanks to that cloud, temperatures hold up nicely at between 9-13C. Some light and patchy rain or drizzle is possible in places.

Saturday looks mainly cloudy but some areas should see some bright or sunny spells. Just a slight chance of an odd shower, some drizzle over hills and highs will respond nicely in any sunshine, widely 16-19, locally 20C.

Sunday and Monday will hold on to the cloudy theme but temperatures will continue to rise with readings of 21, maybe 22C.
