FRI 6 SEP: UK & IRELAND WEEKEND FORECAST

Written by on September 6, 2013 in United Kingdom & Ireland with 0 Comments

Scotland

It’s an increasing wet and breezy night to come as a frontal system pushes north from England. The rain is now pushing up through Dumfries and Galloway and the Borders and should impact the Glasgow-Edinburgh corridor within the next hour or so, turning heavy late tonight and through the overnight. Localised flooding is possible with poor driving conditions. It will feel cool in the wind and rain but temperatures hold up on last night’s values at 9 to 11C with a fresh NE wind. Saturday starts wet and breezy for most but through late morning into the afternoon, expect skies to clear in the East with the bulk of the rain shifting into the far west. Eastern and central areas though may see sunshine, there is the chance of a heavy shower developing. Highs a touch up on today at 15-17C. Sunday is looking better with showers but also plenty of drier weather, highs in the 15-18C range and that sets the scene for an improving setup to start next week. England

After a wet old day across a large swath of England, the heaviest rains focus on the North tonight where local flooding is likely. Further south through the Midlands into Southern parts, it’s dry, clear and cooler with low dipping into single figures in the countryside. The range being 7-13C. Saturday should see a much better day across most areas though through the day, heavier rains return to western areas and the more persistent rain may take it’s time leaving Cumbria and Lancashire while it’s a sunshine and showers regime elsewhere. Highs range from 14-19, locally 20C. Breezy still in the far North also. By Sunday the western side always hangs on to more cloud with spells of rain but head into central and eastern England and there is pleasant sunshine to be enjoyed. Highs 15-20C. Monday should see a mostly dry day with highs of 16-20C.

Wales

It’s been an increasing wet and blustery day across North Wales but through tonight that rain, though scattered will sink into Mid and South Wales so it’s an unsettled night to come. Heaviest rains with a likelihood of localised flooding always focused in the North and West. Overnight lows hold at 8-12C. Saturday is looking unsettled with wet and windy weather for most and cool too with highs of just 12-16C. The wettest weather will be focused over western areas while drier, even brighter weather will hold over the East. Sunday starts off wet and windy but it’s an improving picture through the day. Better conditions to come Monday but we could still see showers around. Highs both Sunday and Monday range from 14-18C.

Northern Ireland

It’s been a decent Friday across Northern Ireland but conditions are going down hill this evening as heavy rain now spreads in from the North Channel with a freshening northerly wind. The west stays largely dry to start but through the overnight the rain spreads in, making for a very wet and windy night across the country. Lows stay milder tonight compared to last night at 8-10C. Saturday starts very wet but rains ease through the day, although it should remain cloudy and damp. Winds will remain fresh to at times strong, especially along the North coast and it will feel chilly with highs no higher than 10 to 13C. Sunday and Monday see clearer, brighter weather with a slight rise in temperature. 13-16C.

Ireland

It’s a wet and windy night to come over eastern parts of the Republic, drier and less windy in the West. Lows stay milder compared to last night at 10-13C. Saturday will see rain move out of eastern parts and all should see better weather through the afternoon although it will be blustery and cool with the northerly wind. Highs range between 12-15C. Sunday as well as Monday looks to see a gradual warming trend with lighter winds and more in the way of sunshine and little chance of rain. Highs of 15-19C.
