Warm To Hot Sunshine To Dominate UK/Ireland Next Week

Written by on July 3, 2013 in United Kingdom & Ireland with 0 Comments

Little change in my forecast for the next 7-10 days with models persistent in holding the strongest ridge of the year over the UK and Ireland throughout next week, providing the warmest temperatures yet.

We just need to get through the next 36 hours of somewhat unsettled weather and then it’s all about the Azores high building overhead.

Expect highs to peak at around 30C in Southeast England, 25C in Scotland and 26C in Wales and Ireland Sunday, elsewhere 21-24C.

By Monday and Tuesday, the warmth builds further with nights staying very warm at around 21C in the Southeast, widely 16-18C. Warm nights will help lift daytime readings into early next week to 32-34C in the South, 29C in Wales, 27 or 28C in Scotland and Ireland.

The fly in the ointment will be far Northern Scotland with intermittent cloud and perhaps light showers and fronts get close. All in all, the upcoming period from this upcoming Saturday through at least next Friday or Saturday will be the best for the month of July ‘UK-wide’ in many years.

Models are hinting at a possible breakdown next Friday, if not next weekend.

Here’s the latest ECMWF surface chart through next week.
