Scotland
Today marked the warmest of the year so far across Scotland with highs of 18 to 22C but change is on the way through the next 12-18 hours.
Low pressure will spread wind and rain across southern and central Scotland tomorrow with a fresh to strong SE wind.
As for tonight, it’s a fine, dry and quiet night with lows dipping once again to 5 or 6C in towns and cities to 3 or 4C in sheltered rural parts. Mist and fog is likely to reform too.
Wind and rain will sweep in during Wednesday with heavy pulses affecting particularly Dumfries and Galloway and the Borders, eventually reaching the Central Lowlands. Drier and brighter in the Highlands and Far North. Highs tomorrow range from 13-17C. Thursday will be another unsettled day.

England
Like in Scotland, today marked the warmest day of 2013 with highs widely reaching 21-22C with pockets of 23-24C, possibly an odd 25C. The warmth will hold well into this evening so perfect for an evening BBQ with the family. Make the most of the sunshine and warmth because a significant change looms out in the Atlantic.
Through tonight, cloud will build from Devon and Cornwall up into the Midlands and across to the Southeast. A southerly breeze will pick up through the night but by no means is it a cold one, in fact tonight should be the mildest of the year also with some parts possibly not dropping much below 14, possibly 15C.
Through Wednesday morning, pulses of rain will advance NE thanks to the presence of a frontal system, reaching most areas by early afternoon. Winds will turn fairly blustery for many with potential gales along the coasts. Highs will be held back at 14-18C tomorrow.
Thursday will remain unsettled with unusually strong winds for the time of year.
Wales
It’s been a glorious day across much of Wales with the exceptions of some coastal areas where it’s been misty, cloudy and cooler. Highs today warmed to 21-22C over parts of the interior North.
Through tonight cloud and wind increases from south to north with an area of rain spreading to all parts through Wednesday morning. The rain should clear with showers following behind through the afternoon. Highs tomorrow will be much cooler at 13-17C.
Thursday is looking unseasonably ‘stormy’ with gales for most of the country, particularly windy along exposed coasts.
Northern Ireland
Following the one of the best days this year so far with good spells of sunshine and the warmest temperatures, nearing 21C in a few spots, there’s a dramatic change on the way as low pressure advances from the west.
Through tonight, clouds and eventually rain will spread north from the Republic and this should become heavy and quite persistent through the second half of the overnight into tomorrow morning. Lows will remain mild though at 9-12C.
Through Wednesday, wind as well as the rain will increase. All areas during late morning into the afternoon will see a wet and windy day, highs will be held much lower than today at 12-15C.
The wind and rainy theme continues into Thursday and towards the weekend.
Ireland
Today has been an increasingly unsettled one with conditions already going downhill for what will be a very wet and windy night, all thanks to an active frontal system associated with a deep low out over the Atlantic.
All areas will see heavy pulses of rain and strong to gale-force southerly winds tonight. Lows will hold up nicely at 8-12C thanks to all the cloud, wind and rain.
The wet and windy weather will continue through a good part of Wednesday before the main band clears to the north but heavy, blustery showers will follow. Highs will be cooler than today at 13-15C.
The very unsettled theme continues into Thursday and the upcoming weekend.
