After a wet and breezy night and start to your Tuesday, conditions have improved considerably through this afternoon with decent spells of sunshine to be enjoyed by most. Through tonight and while we see a fairly clear and calm night from the Central Lowlands northwards, it turns into another wet night across the South thanks to a frontal boundary. Lows tonight cool to freezing in the Highlands with an odd -4 or -5C in some Glens, 3-4C in the Glasgow-Edinburgh corridor, nearer 5-7C in the wet and windier South.

Thursday shall be a day of sunshine and showers with a brisk west breeze, highs of 9-11C.

It turns cooler towards the end of the week with overnight frost returning.

England

It’s been a day of contrast with regards to temperature as highs merely rise to 10 or 11C in the North beneath a thick blanket of cloud. Light and patchy rain is falling from this but south of this air mass division, the air is flowing up from the SW and allowing temperatures to climb widely into the 17-19C range across the South, a few spots surrounding London, across Kent and up into East Anglia should make 21 to 22C.

Tonight will see a lot of cloud with even mist and fog developing from the Midlands south while it’s a wet night in the North. Lows range from 4C in the North to 12C in the Southeast.

Thursday will see a cloudy and cooler day with the front sinking south. The best of any sunshine looks to be in the Southeast where highs once again will push 21-22C ahead of the boundary but in the North and even Midlands, it may struggle to make 9C in places just 10C for many.

Wales

It’s a damp and dreary Wednesday for much of the country and through tonight there’s little change as more moisture flows in from the Atlantic thanks to a stalled frontal system. Lows tonight hold up at 5-8C with more light and patchy rain, drizzle along with mist and hill fog.

Thursday looks similar with rain spreading into Anglesey tonight, making for a wet overnight and morning in the North but it’s a damp start for most and this cloud and patchy rain continues through the first half of the day, clearing with some brightness or afternoon sunshine on offer. Highs tomorrow 9-12C

Clearer and colder tomorrow night.

Turns cooler but drier towards the end of the week with the return of rural frost.

Northern Ireland

A damp, cloudy afternoon is making way for a drier and somewhat brighter evening to come, however conditions once again turn wet tonight as another pulse of rain works along the frontal boundary draped across the south and central part of the country. Watch for tricky overnight driving conditions. Lows dip no lower than 4-5C.

Thursday will see morning rain clear, making way for a drier, brighter but cooler afternoon with some showers feeding in on a brisk west breeze. Highs 9-11C.

Turns cooler but drier towards the end of the week with the return of rural frost.

Ireland

A wet night is set to dominate much of the country as another embedded system rides the stalled frontal boundary. A fresh but mild SW wind will add to the miserable night but at least it’ll be mild with overnight temperatures holding up at 6-10C.

Conditions should improve through Thursday morning as the bulk of the wet weather heads out into the Irish Sea. After a damp and cloudy morning, skies should brighten through the afternoon and for northern and eventually central parts, a cooler NW’erly wind develops, introducing a fresher feel. Highs range from 10 or 11C in the North to 16 or 17C in the South.

It turns cooler towards this weekend with night frosts returning.
