Active Atlantic Front Pushing Into UK Today May Bring 4 Inches Of Rain To NW England, Strong Winds!

HEAVY RAIN WARNING: UPWARDS OF 4 INCHES OF RAIN IS EXPECTED OVER NW ENGLAND, 2 INCHES OVER WEST SCOTLAND, LOCALISED FLOODING IS LIKELY!

Today will see a wet, windy day for most away from the southeast of England thanks to the presence of an Atlantic front. This will be one of the more active ones and it appears we could see significant rains through the Lake District as well as over the west Highlands of Scotland.

Watch out for localised flooding where perhaps 2 inches falls in western Scotland while as much as 4 inches may fall locally over the Cumbrian Fells.

While rains will pile into the hills of western Scotland and NW England, winds will also be strongest here with gusts of 50 to 60 mph quite likely. Elsewhere it will be blustery with periods of rain. The driest area looks to be from Birmingham southeastwards to London and Kent.

Temps for all will remain mild with 9-14C. Feeling cooler in the wind and rain.
