It’s been a tough time for folks across the South of England this year with record drought which extended back a good 2 years to now exceptional rainfall and flooding. I guess one could link this to the onset of the El Nino rather than global warming given the flip from drought to deluge across hard hit […]
Following highs in the 90s from Minneapolis to DC, an eastbound cold front bringing showers and storms to the Mississippi Valley will continue pushing east over the next 36-48 hours. On it’s backside temps are falling 20-25 degrees from the previous 24 hours ago. While weekend highs soared well into the 90s across the Dakotas, their in the 70s […]
There are two lines of storms to watch across the US this afternoon, the first line now sweeping southeastwards over the Mid-Mississippi valley extends from southern Illinois down through Kentucky, western Tennessee and into Arkansas. This line has already produced damaging winds, some hail and heavy, flooding rains over parts of Missouri. These cells will continue moving southeast through the […]
The europe pattern at the moment consists of a western trough and an eastern ridge with a constant southwesdt flow pumping Saharan air northeast across the central and eastern Med andsoutheast Europe. According to the BBC, one man was rescued as his car became stuck in flood waters in Waterloovile, Hampshire. At the seafront in Littlehampton, West Sussex homes were hard hit with floodwaters 4 ft deep and even as far north as Boroughbidge in North Yorkshire […]

Between Thursday and this morning, there are parts of southern Alabama and the Florida panhandle which has seen an astonishing amount of rainfall. While some places have witnessed 15-22 inch 2-day totals, some spots have witnessed 12-18 inch ONE-DAY totals. These are amounts you would expect from a tropical storm or hurricane but of course […]
For those living in the eastern third of the country, this weekend is all about the return of heat following a chilly past week. In a sense, one can thank the latest storm system punching into the Pacific Northwest as this is helping push and expand the ridge east. As this system carves out a new trough […]
Tonight’s ECMWF has an exploding 592-600dc ridge expanding from the Sahara north over the Mediterranean encompassing Greece, the Balkans and Turkey. Even island resorts such as Sicily, Crete, Malta and the Greek Islands look to soar well beyond 100F from Tuesday onwards and I can only imagine what kinda temperatures we may see extend into interior Greece and especially Turkey.
