Tonight’s ECMWF has an exploding 592-600dc ridge expanding from the Sahara north over the Mediterranean encompassing Greece, the Balkans and Turkey. Even island resorts such as Sicily, Crete, Malta and the Greek Islands look to soar well beyond 100F from Tuesday onwards and I can only imagine what kinda temperatures we may see extend into interior Greece and especially Turkey.
Without even skipping all the way to next week, temperatures could even reach 100F as early as tomorrow over the southern interior of Italy and parts of Greece
While I’m confident we will see headline grabbing heat next week in the central basin northeastwards, if tonight’s run was to hold true with the agressive intensity of this heat, then I recon all-time record temperatures are possible with parts of Turkey in particular perhaps eyeing 120F.
I will try to create a map for this over the weekend as well as capture my thoughts on europe as a whole for the next 10 days period.
