Saranac Lake (technically Lake Clear), tucked deep within northern New York’s Adirondack Mountains is not only famous for it’s beauty but it’s cold too. With it’s high elevation within a snow covered ‘bowl-like’ valley, cold air drains into this location from the surrounding slopes and so often, when conditions are perfect, Saranac Lake is New York’s coldest spot and during arctic outbreaks, even the nations cold spot.
