Celebrating My 40th Munro With Beautiful Ben Lui & Beinn a’Chleibh

Written by on July 14, 2018 in Scottish Mountains with 0 Comments

In the midst of one of Scotland’s driest, warmest May’s one record, the weather, mountain and setting couldn’t have been better for taking in my 40th munro.

Date: Thursday 24 May, 2018

Weather: Clear, sunny, high 22C

Start point: Glen Lochy car park

Drive: 1 hour 50 mins

Walk: 6.25 miles

At an elevation of 3,710 ft, Ben Lui is a magnificent mass overlooking Glen Lochy and a dominant spectacle throughout the southern Highlands.

Two young ladies both named Rachel from Renfrew parked up at the same time as myself and both them and I weren’t 100% sure of the route. So we joined forces for the day and they were great company.

The car park and start point was a beautiful setting within Glen Lochy with nice view of Ben Lui towering in the distance.

The current dry spell helped big time in the crossing of the River Lochy.

A group of young folk we met. We all enjoyed a rest here with a stunning view looking down on Beinn a’ Chleibh and distant Loch Awe.

Beinn a’ Chleibh looking rather small from towering Ben Lui. In saying that it is 700ft lower.
