It’s that time of your when folks typically wrap-up and head out with the kids to watch a local bonfire and fireworks display. For Guy Fawkes night 2015, you’ll probably need to wrap up but not so much for the cold but for wet and windy conditions that are likely to affect much of the UK during Thursday.

After ‘several weeks’ of largely dry and settled conditions, our atmosphere is on the move once again and now through late next week, we may have to contend with as many as 5 or 6 Atlantic lows, some of which look disruptive.
Today (Wednesday) sees the first area of disturbed weather lift north over the UK, the same disturbance which brought flooding to Spain and Portugal last weekend. Once that clears in Norway in weakened form, the western door is open for another to move in.
Into Thursday and when final bonfire and fireworks display preparation are underway, a frontal system attached to a low well out in the Atlantic will advance into the west then cross the country through Bonfire night itself. Expect blustery conditions with spells of rain, some of which could be heavy and persistent but the southwest direction means mild. 7-8pm temps 11-15C for England/Wales, 9-13C Northern Ireland/Scotland.
Latest GFS surface chart shows a band of moderate rain spreading west to east across the country mid evening tomorrow, making for challenging conditions for organisers.

Though not gale-force (except SE coast poss), winds will be a feature and possibly problematic in particularly exposed areas.

Mild for all though.

See this AM’s video for a more detailed outlook on late week and a potentially stormy weekend. Not good for places that are perhaps celebrating Guy Fawkes night this Friday or Saturday night. Gales are likely for many, severe gales at the coast.
