Snow cover is naturally expanding over Eurasia but it looks like coverage across Russia is behind this time last year.

At this stage, this doesn’t mean all that much.
Both ECM and GFS operational and ensemble are showing a strong positive suggesting a setup which would certainly bring winter to a large swath of central and possibly western Europe.
