Though the unsettled theme continues with low pressure throwing cool, blustery and showery conditions our way today and likely tomorrow, there is light at the end of the tunnel! Another southern track system will push through the English Channel Saturday into Sunday and another low on the north coast of Scotland will keep the breeze and shower activity going into early next week BUT, a strengthening upper ridge is building over the very area that we’ve had a trough all summer. That ridge looks to intensify to 1032mb off Ireland and build in over top of the UK late next week into the following week. So, this setup looks to maintain itself well into the first half of September.

The latest GFS surface below shows the building of high pressure and the eastward displacement of all the Atlantic mess we’ve had to deal with lately and through much of the summer.
