Low Pressure Brings Blizzard To Iceland, 104 mph Wind/Heavy Rain To UK, Set’s Tone For Next Week!

While wet and windy conditions dive south over the UK, it’s snowing and blowing up in Iceland on the cold side of the same storm system.

Here’s the visible satellite as of 8am this morning. Note the bank of cloud associated with the front now pushing through Scotland while it’s good and clear but much cooler behind.

ECMWF surface map shows the main cold front swinging through the UK bringing a band of heavy rain and gusty SW winds but note the cold northerly winds blowing over Iceland.

850mb temps cool over Scotland as the front sinks southeastward.

The front peps up with it’s rain intensity tonight and tomorrow over England and Wales and will be slow to shift se making for a wet, miserable day. Cool NW winds and a few showers affect more northern areas.

With the exceptions of Iceland, the model pretty much doesn’t see any snow next 3 days.
