Another major trough drops into the West early next week setting the stage for what could be another significant severe weather outbreak Wednesday through Friday.
While warm to hot now from Mexico to Washington state, it turns considerably cooler early next week with potential for showers and thunderstorms spreading down over California and the Southwest while the first 100s push north over North Texas and Oklahoma.

As the trough deepens mid next week, heat, high humidity lifts north while colder air spreads east overtop, increasing lapse rates and thunderstorm potential. A strong low level jet will set the stage for those thunderstorms firing along and ahead of the front to turn severe. Check out the ECMWF 500mb charts through next week.
