Scotland
It’s been a rather dull, damp, chilly afternoon over Western and Southern areas while in stark contrast, sunshine has been the theme in the Northeast and East. Those heavy, frequent showers will continue to feed into Western areas tonight but through the overnight the clearing sky should expand west, confining showers mainly towards the West Coast. Beneath the clear skies and light winds, expect a widespread frost. Lows -3, perhaps -4C in the coldest sheltered spots, widely -1 to 4C.
A low embedded within the strong WSW air flow will enhance showers and the breeze in the West during Thursday but once again the best of the bright or sunny weather can be found in the East. Highs 7-10C.
More showers feed into the West, sunshine in the East Friday.
England
After a damp day across the majority of England, tonight will see clearing skies and a drop in temperature but it’s a different story down along the South Coast where the rain persists overnight along with strong to gale-force WSW winds which will make for a rough night on the Channel. Lows stay mild along the coast at 8-11C but up into the Midlands and North and rural spots will dip to 2 or 3C under partially clear skies.
Thursday will see plenty of sunshine across a good chunk of the country with a fresh SW breeze but again, it’s the far South that holds onto the cloud, rain and strongest of the winds through the morning but this should clear south into the afternoon. Dry and bright up through the heart of England, showers will develop through the afternoon in the North. Highs 8-13C.
It turns more showery but with sunny spell in between Friday.
Wales
Following a showery, blustery afternoon, skies should turn clearer tonight but with the breeze keeping up, so will those temperatures. Lows in sheltered spots may get close to 1 or 2C but widely 3-6C.
Thursday is looking like a pleasant enough day albeit breezy once again. Morning sunshine will give way to some afternoon showers but all in all it’s not looking too bad. Highs 9-12C.
More rain and showers to come Friday with the wind continuing to be a feature.
Northern Ireland
Tonight will be a cold, clear night with a widespread rural frost quite likely. Lows -1 in sheltered rural areas to 4C along the coast.
Thursday is looking like a pleasant day with decent spells of morning and even afternoon sunshine although showers are likely to increase through the afternoon. A band of rain will sit over the Northwest corner, keeping things cloudier and damp. Highs 7-10C. Westerly breeze will keep it feeling chilly.
Outbreaks of heavier rain through the second half of Friday.
Ireland
It’s a clear and quite cold night to come with rural areas nearing freezing, widely 2-4C but an area of cloud with some patchy rain will push into far Western areas through the night.
Thursday is looking largely dry and sunny with a few showers developing through the afternoon. The WSW breeze will continue to take the edge of the temp.
More organised rain pushes in from the Atlantic Friday morning.
