Scotland
Like we saw yesterday, it’s an improving picture through this evening after a largely cloudy, damp day. We could see some late sunshine but darkness of course returns much earlier at this later time of the year and with longer hours of darkness beneath clear skies, light winds and a cool air mass, we could see patchy frost tonight in rural Highland or Southern Upland Glens with lows of 1-3C, nearer 4-8C more widely.
Saturday looks fine, dry and sunny for most and with light winds, even though temperatures will struggle to get much above 14 or 15C widely, it will feel quite pleasant.
It’s a vastly different picture come Sunday with a potent frontal system sweeping in off the Atlantic and with this front comes GALE-FORCE winds, even storm-force along exposed western coasts and higher ground. Heavy rain will accompany the strong winds and we could see 1-2 inches widely with highest amounts over the hills. Some isolated gusts to 80 mph is possible. Highs 10-13C.
Minor damage and disruption is possible with the strong winds.
Monday will see winds veer northwesterly and could still be blowing at gale-force across much of the country. Turning even colder with highs of 8-13C. Showery with snow on hills.
