WED 4 SEP: UK & IRELAND REGIONAL FORECAST

Scotland

It’s a beautiful early September day for much of the country with temperatures managing to warm nicely into the 18 to 22C range. Through this evening, it starts off dry with clear spells but a frontal system that’s been waiting in the winds over the Northwest corner and Isles, will make a move south through the overnight bring a spell of wet weather to most. Overnight lows dip to between 8-12C.

By dawn Thursday, the West will be clearing out with the return of sunshine while cloud, patchy rain pushes through the Lothians and Borders. By afternoon it’s back to sunshine pretty much everywhere but you’ll notice a considerably cooler feel to the air with highs only managing 14-17C.

Dry and cool Friday.

England

It’s a super end to another summer-like day across England with mid evening temperatures holding up at between 22C in Manchester, 24C in Birmingham and 25C in London. It’s another quiet but misty, foggy and warm night to come with lows dropping no lower than 13-17C.

Cloud increases Thursday with potentially some light and patchy rain developing through the morning over Northern parts while clouding over across the Midlands through the afternoon but head further south and it’s a downright hot day with the focus of heat over London and the Southeast. We’re looking at a high of 30 or 31C in London while a cooler 22C in Birmingham, 20C in Manchester and only 18C in Carlisle.

Wet, windy and chilly by Friday.

Wales

It’s a near perfect end to your day right across Wales give or take a few clouds with temperatures mid evening holding up at between 18 and 23C. Clear and quiet to start the night but cloud and some light and patchy rain will work southeast overnight. Lows range between 10-15C.

Thursday will be cloudier with some light and patchy rain, don’t rule out heavier spells and temperatures will be down on today at between 16-23C.

Turning wetter and windier as well as cooler Friday.

Northern Ireland

After a damp afternoon in the West, bright or sunny in the East, the rain spreads east this evening with clearing in the west later. Through the mid to later part of the overnight, the rain should be largely cleared out and skies turn clear and so temperatures fall away to between 7-11C.

Thursday looks just as bright, sunny and dry as today (for eastern areas anyway) but the temperature will be considerably down on eastern values we saw of 20 or 21C with widespread readings at 3pm expected to be no higher than 14 or 15, locally 16C with a fresh northerly wind.

Staying with the cool, dry theme Friday but things go really downhill this weekend.

Ireland

It’s a bright and warm end to the day across eastern areas of the Republic but make the most of it as rain spreads east through this evening but this clears quite quickly and the rain which does fall, won’t be particularly heavy or organised. Overnight lows dip away thanks to clearing skies and the introduction of a cooler air mass. 7-13C.

Thursday’s looking dry, bright/sunny but a lot cooler with highs of 14-18C with a fresh north wind making it feel even chillier.

Heavy rain, gusty winds impact eastern areas Friday.
