Scotland

Today has becomes the warmest day of 2013 with Strathallan reaching 29C, surpassing yesterday’s value of 27.6C recorded in Glasgow. But today, for many is in fact warmer than yesterday by a degree or two and you may find it uncomfortable. The heat will linger long into the night with gradually cooling overnight, back toward this morning’s values of 12-15C. Some towns and cities may a muggier tonight given the warmer values.

Through tonight we do see some slight change with an introduction of more cloud covering the country by dawn Wednesday. That’s thanks to a weak frontal feature but it’s really just cloud and while this may linger in the East Wednesday, it should be another sunny and perhaps near equally as warm as today for in the West. So highs in the East, while slashed by as much as 8C in such areas as Edinburgh, widely 3-6C, there will be just a 1-2C slice in temps in the still sunny, West.

Warming up again Thursday with much more in the way of sunshine once again. Widely 24-26C once again and the same for Friday.

England

It’s another warm to hot day right across England with blazing sunshine everywhere. The heat will last well into the night but an increase in cloud overnight will herald some change in the weather for Wednesday. Despite an increase in cloud for many, it’s stays sultry with towns and cities unlikely to get much below 20C will perhaps 11pm or midnight. It may creep towards 11 or 12C in rural areas, holding at 14-16C in the urban areas.

So, Wednesday is a cloudier day with the best of the sunshine up and down the Western flank of the country and here temperatures will once again rise in the upper 20s but for many or most, east of the Pennines and north of E Anglia, may hold in the upper teens, a good 8 or 9C off today’s values. No rain is expected though from this cloud, associated with a weak front that’s riding down the east.

Thursday heats back up for most with more sun and heights rebuilding, expect 24-27C widely Thursday and perhaps a touch warmer by Friday where we could see some approach or top 30C.

Wales

It’s another hot one for all across Wales this afternoon, with cooling relief at the coast, thanks to an onshore breeze. Inland readings today, like for the past 3 to 4 days are well up into the mid or upper 20s and this sets the scene for another warm, muggy night to come with lows dipping no lower than 11 to 17C.

Tomorrow will see a slight change and that will be a touch of cloud but this will be scattered and many will see another bright, sunny and very warm day with highs again reaching 24-27C widely.

Slightly cooler Thursday with highs across the board perhaps 2 or 3C down on today and tomorrow’s values but it warms back up Friday and into the weekend.

Northern Ireland

After another hot day, cloud filters in from the north today thanks to the presence of a weak boundary over the UK, but this won’t bring rain nor a cool down, in fact it may hold the heat in tonight, making the upcoming night, the warmest yet at 15-18C.

After a fairly dull start, clouds burn back to the coast and it’s off to the race the temperature goes once again. It may be a touch down on today but still, look for widespread values of 24 or 25C with mostly sunny skies.

Thursday and Friday will see a repeat of today and tomorrow with more abnormal warmth!

Ireland

The heat continues along with the cloudless skies right across the Republic this afternoon. Tonight will be another warm and muggy one with Dublin and other more inland urban centres unlikely to get much below 15C to start Wednesday. It’s a near repeat tomorrow with little cloud cover to keep temperatures at bay and so expect more widespread readings of 24 to 27, perhaps 28 or 29C locally once again.

Thursday and Friday will see no change.
