raindropsScotland

It’s been a cold and damp day across Scotland with persistent showers spreading in from the west. Those showers are falling as snow even to low levels in some areas as the cold air doesn’t want to give way to the somewhat milder air trying to push in from the Atlantic.

Through tonight the rain becomes heavier and more persistent as the cold front advances in but this should gradually push ESE, allowing for a largely fine day on Friday with PM showers, some of which could be heavy, thundery as well as wintry, even to low levels. Not much warmer tomorrow at 5 or 6C.

A showery but still chilly weekend on tap.

England

An area of rain, scattered in nature will push ESE across the country tonight, falling as snow over the Pennines which may cause some slippery conditions on the highest trans-Pennine routes, this area of rain, sleet and (high ground) snow eventually reaches the Southeast by morning while a more organised rain band associated with a cold front swings into the North by morning and will spread across the country during Friday bringing a spell of wet and windy conditions to most. Ahead of the cloud and rain in the Southeast, temperatures may dip to near freezing but this should be clear by daybreak. Lows near 0 to 3C.

Following a wet, blustery morning, the North should see a fairly decent day with sunny spells accompanied by scattered showers, wet and windy afternoon for Midlands and eventually the Southeast. Highs 4-7C.

Staying cool and showery through the weekend.

Wales

A damp and showery evening will give way to a wetter night to come as a cold front swings in from the NW. Expect a a spell of heavy rain across the country tonight with gusty winds too but this rain clears by the early part of Friday. Following the rain band will be heavy, blustery showers but there will be some sunshine through the afternoon.

Lows tonight stay just above freezing, highs tomorrow remain cool at 4-7C.

A showery weekend ahead with sunny spells to be had.

Northern Ireland

After a showery afternoon and evening, a band of heavy rain will sweep across Ulster overnight with heavy, blustery showers to follow. Watch out as skies clear on the backside of the front allow temps to dip to near freezing, this may lead to icy patches for your morning commute Friday.

Not a bad day across the country Friday with sunshine and showers, staying cool at just 4-6C.

The weekend will see a mix of sun and showers, staying cool.

Ireland

It’ll be a wet and blustery night right across the country thanks to the presence of a cold front but on the bright side, it should have cleared much of the country by dawn Friday and so a day of sunshine and showers follow. Winds will be fresh out of the NNW.

Lows tonight dip to 1-3C while highs tomorrow stay cool at 5-7C.

The weekend ahead will be dominated by sunshine and showers, staying chilly.
