The eastern North America heat pump isn’t limited to just the US, record breaking potential lies north of the border into Ontario and Quebec today also.
The current temperature is already up at 34°C (93°F) in Toronto on the north shore of Lake Ontario and it looks to be heading even higher before 5pm when usually the temp reaches it’s max. It’s currently 32°C (90°F) in Ottawa just now while east into southern Quebec it is equally as toasty with Montreal at 32°C (90°F) too. Even further north there is little relief as Quebec City simmers with 30°C (86°F).
Not only is the heat taking it’s toll on Canadians and their southern neighbours but Toronto’s GO train journey times may be extended by up to 20 mins by rush hour due to tracks swelling in the heat, according to a tweet by The Weather Network.
While there should be a slight cooldown over much of Ontario tomorrow, parts of Quebec will likely be even warmer than today. Substantial cooldown for all by this weekend.
