Heavy Showers Linger Over Southern UK Tonight, Cold, Frosty Elsewhere

Tonight will see long clear spells and with the air continuing to grow colder aloft, this supports colder overnight lows in rural areas under those clear skies. Even towns and cities in Scotland and northern England tonight may dip towards 1C while surrounding areas may fall to -2C.

The south and southwest as well as northeast England may see linger, persistent showers and those drifting south over the higher ground of Durham, Yorkshire may fall as snow providing a covering by morning. Those heavy showers in south will fall as rain.

Tomorrow will be cooler than today and through the past week with 6-10C in the North, 10-12C in the South. A freshening northerly breeze will make it fair rather raw especially up over Highland and far northern Scotland where showers will fall as snow, even to low levels. Elsewhere it remains dry.
