Same s*** a different year when it comes to our roads!! Do these reports sound familiar?

– A third of flights from Heathrow have been cancelled and some trains and Tube services disrupted.

– Scores of road accidents were reported overnight, and on the M40 about 100 vehicles were stranded.

– Church Fenton, in North Yorkshire, reported 16cm (6in) of snow, contributing to more than 60 accidents on the region’s roads.

UK Still Within Atmospheric Fightzone!

Through at least early week, the temperature profile is very much a northwest to southeast divide over the UK as milder Atlantic air wins out across western and northern areas with rain and temps boosting 6-9C while, with help of the fresh snowcovered ground, residual cold, continental air holds on from the Midlands south, southeastwards. It’s very much an upside down setup astemps struggle to 2-3C in London, perhaps 1C at best over the snowfields on East Anglia and areas surrounding London and Oxfordshire, but it turns milder as one heads north and west.

This week will be rather benign I believe as we hover between milder air trying to push east while cold, continental air holds this modifying influence back.

More tomorrow and throughout this week.
