Anywhere away from the west coast and southwest could well see a coating to perhaps 2 inches of snow before a gradual moderation of air temp as Atlantic air erodes the cold column of air over the UK

Central Scotland including the Lowlands between Glasgow and Edinburgh may see initial snow which could be heavy through Saturday morning, possibly bringing a coating to 1 inch even at low levels while areas slightly higher in elevation, we could see 2 inches.

Scotland’s greatest snowfall tomorrow will likely be over the Grampians, Aberdeenshire, Angus, Fife into the Lothians and Borders where 1-3 inches may fall, alway heaviest over hills.

The other area which could see some significant snow is over the Southern Uplands where the higher routes such as the Blackwood to Beattock summit stretch of the M74, we may see travel disruption and 2-4 inches of snow before the snow chances to rain.

As for England and Wales. Anywhere away from the Irish coast from the border down the west side of the Pennines into the Midlands and throughout the South (not Cornwall and Devon), we could see a decent blanket of a coating to 2 inches. Area of greatest concern is over the Pennines eastwards. Eastern towns and cities may see anywhere from 1-2 to perhaps as much as 5 or 6 inches of snow before warming begins.
