BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WILL TAKE HOLD FOR THE DC, BALTIMORE, PHILADELPHIA, NEW YORK TO BOSTON CORRIDOR WITH WORST EFFECTED AROUND DC TO ATLANTIC CITY…
A wild, severe winter pattern setting up!
The USA is the primary focus to this post as I have unfortunately been unable to look closer at the East Coast, I-95 Blizzard which is set to hit later tonight and throughout tomorrow and will likely shut down one of the busiest urban corridor’s on the planet as a major snow event is expected to bring 6-12 inches across a wide swath from Virginia to Maine. Likely there may even be 24 inches for the major metro areas, particularly around the Washington, Baltimore to Philadelphia region as a vigorous low, warm Atlantic and descending Arctic air will consolidate and the result, explosive winter weather over the heart of the Mid-Atlantic region where millions live, some 50 million could be impacted…
I will say this much, I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE EXCITED ABOUT THIS WEATHER PATTERN when combining the potential for severe winter weather on both sides of the pond all thanks to the last few months, even few years with the reduction in overall global temp thanks to a colder PDO, the cooling of the North Atlantic, the building of cold thanks to a positive Arctic Oscillation which had flipped allowing the cold to head south and then with that combined with a negative North Atlantic Oscillation and the resulting Greenland block setting up, we now have twing troughs over the Eastern half of North America and over much of Europe. This allows Arctic air to drive south and combined with low’s, snow then hits….
Major snows effecting the Northeast US and across all of Britain, we have quite the winter pattern setting up just in time for one of the most widespread white Christmases in probably 20 or more years, perhaps since the late 70s!
Is this storm a history maker? Could this be the harbringer to my predicted record breaking snow year in some Appalachain areas?
Stay close by as I update with both with the impending blizzard across the Eastern US as well as tune in to updates posted on my “From Russia with love” post which brings you info on Britain’s winter pattern, busy, busy days..
Thanks for reading.
