Arctic Air Sweeps Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, It’s Finally The Real Deal

Real cold comes to town
MOSCOW NEWS

While the next Atlantic system brings rising temps, increasing wind and heavy rain across the UK-Ireland over the next 24 hours, things are just getting colder and colder further east and north from northern Scandinavia all the way down to Ukraine and Bulgaria where highs won’t top -10C on Wednesday.

Storminess continues across Greece, the Balkans, into Turkey with heavy snow, even to low levels further inland away from the Med.

While the cold expands and an air flow feeding from Siberia into eastern Europe continues and will help set the stage for what could be a stunning week of cold next week onwards. As for the UK and western mainland, the cold front associated with the current low will pull down cooler air down from Iceland bringing more wintry shower threats to mainly north. This has to be called ‘cooler’ given the cold building over the eastern continent in next 7 days.

Next week looks to see the advance of a severe pool of cold which a large upper level will cycle Siberian air in and help pump and blow up the cold pool over the continent. This extends westwards throughout next week bringing  a sharp turnaround to proper winter to the UK and Ireland by Thursday of next week onwards. The Azores high looks to head up and over top of the trough helping block and lock this arctic pool.
