Thanks to several significant rain events, July was indeed a record wet month for the Middle Atlantic region and the pattern doesn’t look like giving up anytime soon. The wettest part of the country looks to remain the wettest.

In the last month or so, the upper air setup has seen a ridge in the west and trough further east. As the trough as flexed north and south over the Ohio Valley, it has essentially acted as a magnet allowing tropical moisture to lift north. This has been the trigger for frequent downpours and it looks like that setup remains through the weekend and into early next week.
