As arctic air brings Montana it’s coldest weather of the season (worse likely to come next 10 days), attention turns from -30 to -40 air, -40 to -60 chill to ground blizzards.
Havre, MT shivered at -36 but the coldest place in the state appears to have been Mudd Lake with -42, Chinook hit -40. Just north on the Montana-Saskatchewan line it dipped to -45 as shown in the map below.

Turner, MT endured a record cold high following record cold minimum.
The town of #Turner was so cold today that it not only tied its record cold high temperature for Feb. 12th (-3 deg F, previously set in 1975), but it also broke its record cold low for this day (-33 deg F, previous record was -25 F in 1951). #MTwx #MTBrrr

The combination of -20s and 30 with 20-30 mph wind meant extreme wind chill.
Temperatures in MT are not record cold but a wind chill of -62F near Havre MT last night is wicked cold in anybody's book. #winter #frigid https://t.co/TPqfjyHk7I

Now it’s all about the strong winds and severe blowing and drifting. There’s no new snow it’s simply ground blizzards.
