25C becomes UK’s warmest day in what’s been a very cool 1st half to August

It’s been a month dominated by low pressure and a jet stream positioned to the south of the UK. So, following rain bearing weather fronts, it’s been a largely sunshine and shower regime with winds primarily WNW.

Yesterday’s 25C (77F) became the UK’s warmest of August so far.

It would be interesting to see when the last time the 1st half of August was this cool.

Be sure to enjoy today’s sun and showers and warm sun.

Next spell of wet and windy arrives overnight tonight.

As stated yesterday, here’s hoping Hurricane Gert can give our pattern a kick and bring back summer.

GFS ensemble sees the shift directly related to Gert’s northward heat transfer but a lot of uncertainty remains as models struggle with tropical heat distribution into higher latitudes.
