It’s been a month dominated by low pressure and a jet stream positioned to the south of the UK. So, following rain bearing weather fronts, it’s been a largely sunshine and shower regime with winds primarily WNW.
Yesterday’s 25C (77F) became the UK’s warmest of August so far.

Tropical Storm Gert has formed. When it bumps into the jet stream in a week, it will cause it to ripple. This may bring summer back…

GFS ensemble sees the shift directly related to Gert’s northward heat transfer but a lot of uncertainty remains as models struggle with tropical heat distribution into higher latitudes.
