July 1-18: Cooler-than-normal Scot, N Ire, N Eng, warmer-than-normal Wales, Midland, S, E Eng

I know it’s been a fairly changeable July across the Northern UK with cool, cloudy, wet and windy days but equally there has been some warm or very warm sunny days. So I was surprised to see that July was running below normal across Scotland, Northern England and Northern Ireland. Not surprised at the warmer South of course.

The below chart is all the more surprising given that Northern Ireland and Scotland have seen 72% and 67% respectively with rainfall close to average.
