UK eyes warmest June day since 1976 on longest day of the year

Today marks the longest day of the year and the peak of the June 2017 heat wave. Summer solstice 2017 could be a special one in UK weather history.

Today shall mark the 5th consecutive day where it’s reached 30C or higher somewhere in the UK. An occurrence not seen in over 20 years.

Today is expected to be hottest of all and is expected to reach 34C.

Today should comfortably surpass the old record high for the summer solstice of 31.7C.
