GFS Has Siberian High Cranking To 1056mb Supporting Near -50C Temps On Russia-Mongolia Border

It was only a matter of time before the Siberian surface high exploded towards 1060mb following the incredible snow growth of the past 4 weeks.

The GFS next week builds the high to at least 1056, generating a widespread 10-20 CELCIUS below normal across southern Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and China.

What About Europe?

Well we know the warmer pattern is here and here to stay through much of next week but looking beyond the 7 day, there’s uncertainty. Whether the super cold air building over central Asia pushes west bodily, remains unknown but some ensemble members have a Scandinavian block developing which could well feed Siberian air into Western Europe.
