So, we have a strong upper ridge centred over the interior Pacific NW providing record warmth all the way to the WA-OR coast while a trough is deepening southward over the N Rockies/Plains. A strengthening storm marking the separation will track NE through the Great Lakes with warm, humid, juicy air ahead, cool and dry behind.
That system lifts out and down comes a large, refreshing Canadian high that will clean out the Eastern US atmosphere early next week.

For some Friday night fun I thought I’d show you the latest run of the GFS which shows a system entering the E Caribbean, runs the north coast of the islands and then lifts into the eastern Gulf as a hurricane making a landfall around Orange Beach, AL… The models are sniffing out stuff and I like the prospects of trouble but where, impossible to know just now!
