June 2016 opened warm, sunny and dry following a warm, dry May but the pattern flipped to unsettled around the 10th and has remained that way. The dullest, wettest and coolest was felt across central, eastern and particularly southeastern England and Wales as well as northeast Scotland, driest, sunniest and warmest across central and western Northern Ireland and Scotland.

The wet June has soil moisture running well above normal across England, Wales, France, Belgium, Netherlands and western Germany. This has and will continue to have a negative influence on air temperature.
