Warming Trend Follows East Coast Blizzard But Another System Worth Watching Late Week!

It was a cold morning following one of the biggest East Coast snowstorms of all-time, particularly over the Mid-Atlantic to the west of DC up into south-central Pennsylvania where snow cover was deepest.

The warming trend has already kicked in as temps even over the deep Eastern snowfields climbed from this morning single digits and teens well up into the 30s, for some, low to mid 40s!

The next system takes a path through up through the Midwest and Great Lakes bringing a snow event to the Plains and Midwest but the combo of the GL low and high pushing off the Carolina coast means a warming SW flow for the Mid Atlantic and Northeast.

There’s a close call late this week for the Big Cities as the models take a system up the coast and modest brand cold sweeps in on the backside of the Midwest system and kicks out of mild over the Northeast.

Center too close and it’s more sleet, rain or freezing rain, too far east and it’s nothing at all. Interestingly both ECMWF and GFS have at least some snow for the I-95 corridor.
