As expected, higher sections of Scotland’s road network has experienced the first winter conditions of the 2015-16 season with treacherous driving conditions is particularly exposed areas. In the wake of Abigail, a distinctly colder (Greenland origin) air flow has dropped air temperature even at relatively low elevation a good 5-8C off yesterday’s values.
Within the heavy showers, winds are gusting gale-force and forcing cold air aloft to descend bringing a mix of rain and sleet even down to less than 100m.
