Wild Open To November 2015 Across US

Written by on November 2, 2015 in Autumn 2015, United States of America with 0 Comments

The El Nino casts a shadow over the North American upper air pattern this week as the first major winter storm of the season sweeps into the West and likely to drop 1-2ft over the higher elevations of Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and Utah.

Further east, and a monster ridge pumps record warmth north over the Midwest and East through the week in response to the plunge in jet to the west. While the ridge builds, the same system which brought a deluge for a second straight weekend to Texas and Louisiana, brings flooding rains across the Southeast. It’s a wild open to November 2015!

On the other side of the country, the system that will bring the big intermountain snows this week brought heavy rains to the Pacific Northwest this past weekend and is now driving heavy rain and mountain into northern and central California today.

Temps will run 10-20 below normal in the Western interior while 10-20 above in the Midwest and East.

The below 2m temp anomalies each afternoon say it all. Records are likely to fall for cold in West while they’re already falling for warmth further east.
