Flooding Returns To Carolinas, Record Heat From California To South Dakota, Snow Coming To Northeast??

Written by on October 10, 2015 in Autumn 2015, United States of America with 0 Comments

We have a very interesting pattern across the US these days with an unusual and erratic upper cut low which crossed California into the Four Corners then backed west back out over the Pacific and is now set to return onshore. The heat is on across the West and Plains as that upper low swings back out over the ocean, driving readings to 100 in Downtown Los Angeles and an all-time record 108 in the coastal town of Camarillo while it soared to 106 in Santa Ana thanks to strong NNE Santa Ana wind. Record highs have reached all the way to South Dakota.

Meanwhile another low pressure is bringing the return of flooding rains to the Carolinas.

Here’s the current setup at 500mb and the surface. Note the upper cut off low over the Carolinas and off Baja California.

A trough is set to deepen down the East Coast this week and the cool down has begun.

That upper level cut off low off the Baja is set to drift back onshore early next week, hence cooler temps and increased shower threat.
